- Read John 13:12-17. Why did Jesus ask if his disciples understood what he had done? After asking this question, did you think he paused or immediately spoke the next words?
- What did the disciples call Jesus? Why did Jesus highlight this? What lesson did he draw from it? What did Jesus promise to those who would listen to him and do his will?
- Read John 13:18-20. To whom is Jesus referring in verse 18? What Scripture is Jesus quoting in verse 18? Who originally wrote it? What did it mean to that person?
- According to verse 19, why did Jesus say these things to his disciples? Why does Jesus shift the subject from service and betrayal to sending in verse 20?
- What’s the most important thing you learned from today’s sermon? From John 13:12-20?
- How has this sermon helped you to grow in love for God and others?
- What’s the most important thing Jesus would have you do in light of this sermon?
