1. Read 2 Samuel 4:1-4. Who was Ish-bosheth and how
did he respond to Abner’s death? How did Israel respond to his death?
2. Who was Jonathan? Why does the author mention his
son Mephibosheth here, and what was his condition?
3. Read 2 Samuel 4:5-12. Who killed Ish-bosheth, king
of Israel, and why?
4. What did these men present to King David and why?
What did they claim it represented? What did David pronounce upon them and why?
Was his decision just?
5. Where did David bury Ish-bosheth’s remains and why?
6. What’s the most
important thing you learned from the sermon and your personal study?
7. How has today’s
message helped you to grow in love for God and others?
8. What is the most
important thing Jesus would have you do in light of 2 Samuel 4?
