Baptism Service and Picnic, June 26, 2016

We make summer picnics a priority in order to give us a chance to spend time with one another while we enjoy the warm weather. Everyone is invited to attend our picnic and baptism today after the worship service. This is an excellent time to get to know the people of GCF. We will eat lunch first and then begin our service at 1:00 p.m.

Related to food, everyone who plans to come should bring a side dish to share with others and some meat to grill for their own family. You don’t have to worry about charcoal, water, and picnic supplies (such as napkins, cups, plates, and plastic silverware etc.) those will be provided. However, even if you do not have any food to share please come anyway, there is always enough to go around.

Make sure to bring chairs if you would like to sit down on the lakefront. Swimming is also available for those who would like to go in the water.

This Sunday we resume our study of the book of Revelation and within the first eight verses of chapter 6 we will encounter the wrath of God being poured out upon the world. In one sense, being confronted with the reality of God’s wrath is uncomfortable at best, but in another sense, it fills the believing heart with joy. One of the first essays I wrote in college was on the wrath and love of God, and probably the main effect it has had on my life is to cause joy to rise up in my heart whenever I contemplate God’s wrath.
