1. Read 2 Samuel 7:1-3. Why did King David desire to build a house for the
Lord? How did Nathan answer and why?
2. Read 2 Samuel 7:4-16. What are the specific details of the Lord’s
response to David? Hebrews 1:5 cites 2 Samuel 7:14 as referring to Jesus – how
does the author of Hebrews see Jesus in the Lord’s words to David? What issues
arise if all of the Lord’s words to David refer to Jesus?
3. Read 2 Samuel 7:17-29. What drew David into the presence of the Lord?
What are the specific details of his response to the Lord? Why did he see,
think, feel, and say the things he did?
4. What’s the most
important thing you learned from the sermon and your personal study?
5. How has today’s
message helped you to grow in love for God and others?
6. What is the most
important thing Jesus would have you do in light of 2 Samuel 7?
