“Intercession and the Body of Christ”

Hebrews 7:23-28

September 20, 2015

1. Read Hebrews 7:23-28. Last week we saw that God’s house must be a house of prayer. Based on these verses, and Romans 8:26-39, why do you suppose God insists that this be so?

2. What specifically do we learn about Jesus in Hebrews 7:23-28 and what does this have to do with the prayer life of the church?

3. Peter tells us in 1 Peter 2:9 that those who believe in Jesus are a “royal priesthood.” How does this relate to what we learn about Jesus in Hebrews 1 and 7?

4. What is the main function of priests? How does this relate to the calling of Christ upon our lives?

5. How would you define prayer? Intercession? What small steps can you take today to join Jesus and the church in the ministry of intercession?

6. Take some time for prayer. Praise God for who he is, confess to him the weights and sins in your life, thank him for his grace and patience and power, and then spend some time interceding for others.

Reflective Glory: How the Moon Displays the Mercy of God

Our sun is a fitting metaphor for the glory of God. In the context of our solar system, it is massive, bright, beautiful, powerful, self-sufficient, heat-producing, life-giving, and dangerous.
