Towels and Sheets Needed for New Refugees: With Arrive Ministries welcoming and resettling 60 refugees before the end of September we desperately need single sheet sets and towels (bath and hand) for welcome kits for every newly arriving family. Used items (in clean, good condition) are always welcomed.

Student Ministries Parent Kickoff: Parents and students grades 6-12 are encouraged to mark their calendars and attend the annual kickoff for student ministries on Wednesday, September 16 at Otsego Park.

Sunday School Meeting After Worship Service: Parents of children age 2-5 are asked to attend a brief Sunday School vision meeting after service in room 112.

Sunday School: The tentative start date for 2015-2016 Sunday School is Sunday, September 20. This depends on recruiting all of our volunteers by Wednesday, September 9. Please prayerfully consider volunteering in the Nursery, Preschool class, K-2 grade class, 3-5 grade class or the student ministries (Grade 6-12). Contact Pastor Kevin for more details on the needs.

Family Registration Forms: Please fill out a 2015-2016 Family Registration form and return to Pastor Kevin for fall planning purposes.

Pivot Meetings: The college age ministry meets on alternating Thursday evenings. 7:00 p.m. at Josiah Lee's house. The next meeting is September 17.

Thursday Morning Prayer Meeting: Please join us for an hour of prayer on Thursday mornings from 6:00-7:00 a.m. at the church office. Women should bring at least one other person with them so that we can honor the Lord by maintaining appropriate boundaries. If you are unable to stop by the church office, feel free to join in wherever you are.

God Displays His Beauty While Lifting Heavy Burdens by Pastor Kevin

I know I am a little bit overweight. My doctor tells me so. The mirror that I look into affirms it and the scale (that I mostly avoid) reminds me every time I step on it. All of that makes what I am about to say so much more impressive. I had the privilege of sitting on the beaches of Florida's Atlantic coast for 8 days on our most recent family trip. For me there is something magical about the beach, especially on the Atlantic side with the waves washing up against the shoreline. We have been lucky enough to find a sleepy beach town to vacation at. A nook, if you will, that typically features retired folks or families with kids. Out of the way of those who want to party, the beach is truly a relaxing place for me.  Let me tell you something that I gleaned this time around that never quite landed on me. No one ever plans to have their lives upended. We know that the world is broken and bound in futility, we know that everything can change in an instant, and yet crises still have the ability to shake us to our core. None of us entered 2020 planning to experience a global pandemic this year, but here we are, practicing social distancing, wondering how the virus will affect us and our families, and wondering when we will be able to return to our regular rhythms and routines as what can feel a little like the world falling apart around us.  In the midst of social distancing, I miss my church family. I miss my Bible study, the kids in my Sunday school class, the ability to meet people for coffee, and I know that I am not alone in this. It is not wrong to grieve the temporary loss of these things.
