Global Missions, by Pastor Charlie

What is a People Group?

For evangelistic purposes, a people group is the largest group within which the gospel can spread as a church planting movement without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance. An Unreached People Group is a people group within which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians able to evangelize this people group.

How Many People Groups Are in the World?
  • World Population: approximately 7.6 billion
  • People Groups by Language: 10,900
  • People Groups by Language and Ethnicity: 13,000
  • People Groups by Language, Ethnicity, and Affinity: 24,000
  • Unreached People Groups: 7,078 (41.6% of the population)
How Shall We Reach Them?
We must proclaim the gospel by the power of God to the nations of the world in the following ways (developed by Dr. Ralph Winter):

What Can We Do?
  1. Pray to the Father in Jesus’ Name
  2. Learn about Global Missions
  3. Educate Others
  4. Serve in Practical Ways
  5. Give of Your Resources
  6. Go to the Nations

Reflective Glory: How the Moon Displays the Mercy of God

Our sun is a fitting metaphor for the glory of God. In the context of our solar system, it is massive, bright, beautiful, powerful, self-sufficient, heat-producing, life-giving, and dangerous. It is, by far, the dominant feature of our solar system and without it the system would fling apart and all living things therein would die.  On the other hand, our moon is a fitting metaphor for human beings, especially for those who believe in Jesus Christ. First, compared to the sun, the moon is tiny and dim. The sun is 400 times larger than the moon, its mass is 27 million times greater than the mass of the moon, and from our perspective its light shines 450,000 times brighter than that of the moon. The sun is so much greater than the moon that it’s difficult to quantify and express the difference. Likewise, the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, is so much great than each and all of us that it’s impossible to quantify or express the difference. Indeed, the Lord is very great and greatly...

Applying the Gospel to a Victim of Sexual Abuse, by Pastor Kevin

Applying the Gospel to a Victim of Sexual Abuse By Pastor Kevin Sexual abuse is more than sexual abuse, it is also emotional, physical, relational, and gender abuse. It is perhaps the worst kind of abuse that is incredibly damaging. When Tamar was raped by her step-brother in 2 Samuel 13, Amnon, her question was this in verse 13: “where could I carry my shame?” After Amnon violates her Tamar publicly laments by putting ashes on her head and tore the long robe that she wore (verse 19). The ashes symbolized something. They symbolized the dirtiness of the shame that she felt. Tamar’s soul seemed a polluted hole like the soot from ashes. Robert Kelleman in his book titled  Sexual Abuse  said that “many sexual abuse victims feel a tremendous amount of false guilt that leads to a sense of worthlessness and ugliness.” In one case that he counseled, a young lady described her shameful feelings by saying that “[I’m] convinced that people’s eyes can pierce right into my soul ...
