Church Picnic Today: Join us after the worship service for a church picnic at Otsego Park. As usual, everyone is asked to bring a side dish to share and meat to grill for their own family (or another main course for their family). Charcoal, water, and tableware will be provided. Bring along any yard game that you would like to play.
5-Day Club! July 10-14 from 6 - 7:30 p.m.:  Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to join us for a week of Bible lessons, games, memory verses, a missionary story, skits and a snack. Kids will put on their detective hats and discover new things each day about Jesus. They will see that Jesus loves the lost (parable of the lost sheep), Jesus takes away sin (the story of Bartimaeus), only Jesus satisfies (Jesus feeds the 5,000), Jesus has power over death (raising Lazarus), and they can put their faith in Jesus (healing of the official's son). Club will meet each day at the Perry's home: 13945 Jasmine Way Rogers, MN. RSVP: 763.428.9634. To learn more visit 5dayclub.com.
GOLD Team Land-Building Meeting Saturday, July 15: The “GOLD Team” is comprised of the ministry leaders of GCF. We meet four times per year, and on July 15 we will be devoting our meeting to the topic of acquiring land or a building. If you have skills in real estate, finance, project management, team development, or prayer, please join us at the church office from 8:00-11:00 a.m. for this crucial meeting. Contact Pastor Charlie for more information.
Change in Location for Worship Services on Sundays August 13 and 20: As it is each year, we will be worshiping at Elk River High School on Sundays August 13 and 20 so that the staff at Handke can perform routine maintenance on the gym. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us there!
Wednesday Morning Prayer Meeting: Anyone who would like to join in corporate prayer may do so. The prayer time is from 6:00- 7:00 a.m. at the church office.
Next Week’s Fighter Verse
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’
Psalm 91:1-2

Reflective Glory: How the Moon Displays the Mercy of God

Our sun is a fitting metaphor for the glory of God. In the context of our solar system, it is massive, bright, beautiful, powerful, self-sufficient, heat-producing, life-giving, and dangerous. It is, by far, the dominant feature of our solar system and without it the system would fling apart and all living things therein would die.  On the other hand, our moon is a fitting metaphor for human beings, especially for those who believe in Jesus Christ. First, compared to the sun, the moon is tiny and dim. The sun is 400 times larger than the moon, its mass is 27 million times greater than the mass of the moon, and from our perspective its light shines 450,000 times brighter than that of the moon. The sun is so much greater than the moon that it’s difficult to quantify and express the difference. Likewise, the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, is so much great than each and all of us that it’s impossible to quantify or express the difference. Indeed, the Lord is very great and greatly...

Jan 8th is my planned departure date. Finance Update: Total amount still needed per month: $279 Breakdown: 6 people at $50 a month 12 people at $25 a month Please continue to keep this in prayer for the next few weeks. I also have a lot to...

When Children Say "I'm Bored" By Julie Lowe

This Article is written by Julie Lowe and was originally posted on the CCEF blog.  I highlighted the areas of particular interest. I had already prepared a blogpost on dealing with boredom from a Christian worldview and then came across this. There is much overlap between the two, perhaps this one is more concise while my work attempts to explain the connection between the ability to think and the ability to be happy. You can visit the original blogpost in the link provided below.  https://www.ccef.org/resources/blog/children-say-im-bored   We have a common crisis in our home; it is the calamity of boredom. Our children might even consider it a catastrophe. “I’m bored” is repeated so often it would not be an overstatement to say that these words echo continuously throughout our home especially during any break from school. These are children with limited media time but still children with a Wii and Xbox system, a pool outside our door, multiple games, toy...
