Missions Trip to Uganda - Praying for Ethan Larson and Family

Last Sunday we had the privilege of praying over Ethan Larson and his family as he prepares to depart this Friday, May 8 for Africa Renewal Christian College (ARCC) in Uganda. Here's a brief description of the trip from the Training Leaders International website (the ministry with which Ethan works): 

"The Holiday Term at Africa Renewal Christian College is part of a 2-year Certificate Program for pastors, church leaders, and lay-members of the church that desire to be equipped for ministry. The training attracts mature adults that are already serving in ministry and are unable to attend Bible college full-time due to family, ministry, and work commitments. This mature group of students provides a tremendous atmosphere for dialogue and debate as students learn how to apply God's word to their lives." 

The trip is set to last for about two weeks, so please join us in lifting up this precious family in prayer along with the students of ARCC. You can follow the progress of the trip here. 

Father, we thank you so much for your passion for the nations. We praise you for sending Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners, and then using us to further your purposes in the world. We pray that you would fill Ethan and his team with the power of the Spirit as they go to glorify you by serving the church of Uganda. May your great name be exalted in that historic land so that many will come to know you and be with you forever! We pray in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, amen.

A few years ago, I was listening to a radio program on which Marshall Shelley was being interviewed about his new book, The Leadership Secrets of Billy Graham (Zondervan, 2005). They were giving away a few copies of the book to those who called in, and something inside me felt compelled to call. But I didn’t have a good question to ask, so I prayed to the Lord and said, “If you want me to have a copy of this book, please give me a good question to ask and I’ll call.” I’m not sure if the Lord gave me this question or if it just popped into my head, but one way or the other, I thought to ask about the connection in Billy’s life between his private pursuit of holiness and integrity, and his public effectiveness and longevity.
