A Great Resource For Your Family

Are you looking for great resources that combine entertainment, art, and the opportunity for great discussion and character building? I know that I always am.

I just got done listening to an audio drama called Under Drakes Flag by G.A. Henty. You can find the resource at http://www.underdrakesflag.com

The story features two young and aspiring boys who are captivated by Sir Francis Drake, a heroic British sea captain. Through the adventures, Ned and Gerald find themselves in the cross fires of the Spanish Inquisition, and through their courage and resolve they play a part in dismantling the evil trials.

Much of the vocabulary and dialogue was difficult and challenging, yet my children, ages 6, 8 and 10 always looked forward to the next time we got to listen together. You will want to stop along the way and be sure the children understand what is happening.

Again, Under Drakes Flag is a wonderful lesson in history and a great testimony to the faithful God who works through his people who entrust themselves to him. I highly recommend it.

Worship Songs, October 15, 2017

We post these worship songs leading up to the worship service so that parents may listen to them in the house or in the car within the days leading up to the worship service. Deacons - How They Serve and Strengthen the Church (Part 1)

One of the next important priorities for GCF is to establish deacons in the life of the church. On March 14, 2021 we were able to establish an elder team. Currently, we have a team of four elders overseeing the congregation of GCF. However, there is more work to be done. I have come to see that establishing an elder team was the bare minimum that needed to happen for GCF to survive. I believe GCF now needs to turn our attention to raising up a team of qualified and willing deacons to serve the congregation so that it will not only survive but thrive. So writes the anonymous author of the classic little book on prayer entitled, The Kneeling Christian (Zondervan Publishing House, Grand Rapids: 1971).
